    1. Carbohydrates are organic compounds that are made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. They have the general formula of CnH2m0„1.

    3. Proteins are complex organic compounds that are made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen (sulfur may sometimes be present).
    4. A condensation reaction is a chemical reaction in which two smaller molecules are combined to form a larger molecule (e.g. a complex carbohydrate or protein) with the removal of one molecule of water.
