• A compound is made up of two or more different types of elements chemically combined together.
• A  compound has different physical and chemical properties from its constituent elements.

MIXTURES

• A mixture consists of a few substances mixed together which are not chemically combined together.
• The mixture can be separated by physical methods.
• The common physical methods are as follows:

1. Filtration, evaporation and crystallisation
2. Simple distillation and fractional distillation
3. Paper chromatography
4. Magnetic attraction
