At equilibrium, the particles stop moving.

Correct Concept 1

At equilibrium, the particles are still in continuous motion or in a dynamic state. Equilibrium is achieved when the average motions of particles is the same in all directions and are effectively cancelled out, giving only the impression of inactivity

Common Error 2

The same particles in gases and liquids like to stick closely together

Correct Concept 2

Particles tend to spread out as far away from each other as possible. That is why diffusion takes place as particles move from areas of high concentration to those of low concentration
