    Hi All A-Level/JC/H2/H1 Chemistry Students

    Answers for the last min cheimistry revision

    1) O2 produced because water in excess in aqueous NaCl. Cl2 produced because Cl- in excess in conc NaCl.

    2) Cathode Reaction: 4H20 + 4e -> 2H2 + 4OH-
    Anode Reaction: 2H20 -> O2 + 4H+ + 4e

    3) Chloride is bigger in size as compared to fluorine. It is hence more
    easily polarised to form a covalent bond

    4) dative bond between nitrogen and boron

    5) maximum density of water is at 4degrees. when water cools below 4 degrees, the volume expands. The hydrogen bonds traps the molecules into a rigid 3D structure that aligns water molecules in such a way as to create huge gaps between the molecules

    Finally remember the 5Cs

    Turning Effect of Forces – Key Concepts

    1) The Principle of Moments states when a body is in equilibrium, the sum of the clockwise moments about a pivot is equal to the sum of the anticlockwise monents about the same points.
    2) When applying the Principle of Moments to solve problems, the following steps will be helpful.

    Step 1
    Draw a simple model to help you see the problem better.

    Step 2
    Find the pivot

    Step 3
    Identify all forces, including their directions and distances from the pivot.

    Step 4
    If the system is in equilibrium, apply the Principle of Moments.

    Chapter 6 – Ionic Bonding

    1) Noble gases are unreactive and do not form compounds because they have octet structure
    2) Metals form postively charged ions (Cations)
    3) Non-Metals usually form neagtively charged ions (Anions)
    4) Metals react with non-metals to form ionic compounds.
    5) An ionic bond is formed when electrons are transfeered from a metallic atom to a non-metallic atom.

    Main points of the Kinetics Theory are:

    1. All matter is made up of tiny particles

    2. Particles are in constant, random motion

    3. As the temperature rises, the particles move faster

    4. In solid, the particles are very close and they can only vibrate about fixed positions

    5. In liquid, the particles are closer together, but they have more energy, and they can move about freely

    6. In gas, the particles are far apart, and they move around rapidly in random

    7. All collisions (especially in liquids & gases) are completely elastic. This means that there is no loss of kinetic (movement) energy after each collision
